Time to say farewell to Florence with a panoramic view from Pizzale Michelangelo as we again travel through parts of Tuscany and Umbria to the ancient Etruscan town of Orvieto. One of Italy’s favorite hillside towns with steep narrow streets from medieval times, Orvieto surprises you with one of Italy’s most magnificent Romanesque-Gothic cathedrals. The Duomo in Orvieto is considered to have the most beautiful façade of any church in Italy. The all mosaic façade is an intricate combination of brilliant blue, red and gold tiles that sparkle in the Umbrian sun. Mass will be celebrated by Father Fillman and the St. Joseph Choir in the Duomo. You will have free time for lunch and shopping along the quaint cobblestone streets. Before we continue on to Rome, you may want to purchase a sample of the beautiful Umbrian pottery for which Orvieto is know or perhaps a bottle of Orvieto white wine. Dinner in a Rome restaurant. Overnight Rome.
