Starting with a tour of the vast collections in the Vatican Museums including a visit to the Sistine Chapel where you will see Michelangelo’s famous frescoed ceiling and “Last Judgment.” This afternoon, during your Christian Rome tour, you will visit St. John in Lateran, the cathedral of Rome. You will also see the Holy Steps climbed by Christ in Jerusalem, and the Basilica of the Holy Cross, where some of Christianity's most important relics, including a piece of the True Cross, thorn, and nails are housed. Of all the churches in Rome dedicated to the Madonna, visit the largest, Santa Maria Maggiore which was was built in 440 by Pope Sixtus III. Mass will be celebrated by Father Fillman and the St. Joseph Choir at one of Rome’s important churches. Overnight Rome
